Pain Relief

In addition to Ozone and HBOT, which both have pain relief benefits, we offer

Acupuncture

Acupuncture can provide pain relief by stimulating the body’s natural pain-relieving chemicals, such as endorphins. It works by inserting fine needles into specific points in the body, which can help with chronic conditions like back pain, osteoarthritis, and
migraines. While a course of treatment is often needed for best results, it is considered a safe complementary therapy for pain management. Accupuncture provides:

K

Modulating pain signals:

It can help regulate an overactive nervous system, which modifies how the brain receives pain signals.

K

Neurological response:

Inserting needles into the skin and muscles
stimulates sensory nerves, triggering the release of natural substances that help with pain.

K

Pain-relieving chemicals:

This includes endorphins, which lessen the body’s perception of pain, and other chemicals like adenosine, which blocks nerve signals.

K

Healing and circulation:

Acupuncture can also release chemicals that increase blood flow to the area, promoting healing.

Mistletoe Therapy – Coming Soon

Mistletoe has been used as a medicine since prehistoric times and modern Western herbal practice continues to use mistletoe. There is some evidence that it stimulates the immune system through an anti-inflammatory mechanism, and it is used as a supportive therapy in cancer patients to alleviate some of the side effects of cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy- and radiotherapy-related fatigue.

Mistletoe is a semi-parasitic plant, and the extract is harvested twice a year and undergoes a complex manufacturing procedure. The whole plant extract contains key medicinal constituents: Mistletoe lectin, viscotoxins, triterpenes, amongst many others. Mistletoe preparation is found to enhance the body’s anti-cancer immunity and thereby to inhibit tumour cell growth. It is given in an injectable form, typically three times a week, with doses adjusted over time, under medical supervision. In expert hands, it can also be administered intravenously and intratumourally. Treatment can last from several months to years.

LOW DOSE NALTREXONE

Low-dose naltrexone (LDN) is an “off-label” use of the standard drug naltrexone, which has shown promise as an anti-inflammatory and immune-modulating agent for various chronic pain and autoimmune conditions. While research is ongoing, it is not yet an FDA-approved treatment for these conditions and therefore it is important that you do your own research.

How It Works

Naltrexone is typically used at doses of 50-100 mg to treat opioid and alcohol addiction by blocking opioid receptors. At a much lower dose (typically 1–4.5 daily), it works differently, primarily through two proposed mechanisms:

Immune modulation and anti-inflammatory effects: LDN is thought to block the Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) on immune cells in the central nervous system called microglia, which reduces the release of pro-inflammatory chemicals associated with pain and fatigue.

Endorphin regulation: The temporary, low-dose blockade of opioid receptors causes the body to react by increasing its natural production of endorphins, which are the body’s natural painkillers and mood elevators.

Conditions Treated (Off-Label)

LDN is used off-label for a variety of conditions, with varying levels of evidence. Conditions with the most research and anecdotal support include:

Fibromyalgia (FM): Studies suggest LDN may reduce pain and improve quality of life, mood, and sleep, though results can vary by patient.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS): Some evidence suggests it may improve fatigue, spasticity, and mental health-related quality of life, but not necessarily slow disease progression.

Crohn’s Disease and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD): Small trials have indicated that LDN can help reduce symptoms and objective markers of inflammation in some patients.

Chronic Pain: It is used for various types of chronic neuropathic pain and complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS).
Other Conditions: Case reports and ongoing research are exploring its use in conditions like long COVID, certain cancers, autoimmune thyroid disorders, and some dermatological conditions.

Ozonated Organic Olive Oil

Ozonated Oil is reported to have significant tissue repair as it promotes the healing of wounds.  It has antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties and can also be used to reduce inflammation.  This makes this oil a good all rounder and has been used to take the sting out of bites, burns and scalds.  Some other reported uses are;

Skin and wound care:

  • Treating wounds, burns, and skin damage, including chronic skin wounds and pressure sores.
  • Reducing inflammation and providing relief for conditions like psoriasis, eczema, and sunburn.
  • Acting as an antiseptic to prevent infection in injured skin, and promoting tissue regeneration.
  • Helping to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and cellulite by improving skin elasticity and collagen production.
